I won! “VERY Inspiring Blogger Award”

Very Inspiring Blogger AwardI rarely win anything or seek recognition for stuff I do. I just like sharing my experiences (the good, the bad, and the REALLY bad) and hope I can make a difference in someone’s life (somewehere out there).

Well, Katrina of Freedom to A Full Life nominated me yesterday for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award. (Thank you, Katrina!) I have been blogging for years and have never been given such an honor by a fellow blogger. It’s a good feeling (especially after the week I have had).

Part of my “responsibility” as a nominee is to share seven (7) unknown things about myself with my readers. Here goes:

  1. I want to raise my own chickens one day for eggs. Just a few, not a bunch of hens.
  2. I have 5 sisters: 4 older and 1 younger.
  3. My dream job is to teach. I want to teach yoga to kids and teenagers one day.
  4. I ran away from home when I was seven (7). I walked about two miles to the house of a classmate. His mother knew my mother and called her. It just so happens she was my dad’s ex-wife.
  5. I sometimes wish I had been born a boy. Not because I want to be a boy, I’d just like to know what it feels like not to be judged negatively because I have strong opinions.
  6. I’d love to live on the coast some day. My husband is from Puerto Rico and my son loves the ocean. I think there’s a chance it might happen.
  7. I’d like to meet Lady Gaga one day. (I know. I don’t even listen to her music, but she and her mother recently created the Born This Way Foundation to fight childhood bullying. Plus, she does Bikram Yoga. I’d like to pick her brain for a bit.)

My second responsibility is to nominate six (6) bloggers for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award. (I follow 80 amazing bloggers. This was not an easy choice.)

1. http://lifebegins45.wordpress.com/ – One woman’s journey of healing from psychological abuse

2. http://writewhatuknow.wordpress.com/ – Impower You blog written by the author of “I am More than Just a Girl”

3. http://juliepeoplesclark.wordpress.com/ – An Accessible Life: “The only limitations are those in your head. Everything else is just a technical problem.”

4. http://onemomsbattle.com/ – One woman’s journey through the family court system pro se and how she has dealt with divorcing a narcissist

5. http://kimberlyharding.wordpress.com/ – Where Art, Feminism, and Stepparenting Coalesce

6. http://outofthefognow.wordpress.com/ –  A group of women comprised of survivors, lawyers, therapists, psychiatrists and family members of victims.  Each have helplessly witnessed the struggle of women and children fighting against abuse either first hand or from the side lines.  Most importantly, these are women that have been, at one time, victims of abuse.

I encourage my readers to check out the blogs listed above and pass them on to anyone and everyone who could use the ispiration they share. Thanks for reading.

[…] What a great week. I am wrapping up my fundraiser, had a visit from my nephew, spent a day at the beach, laughed a lot and was given the VERY Inspiring BLogger award by Paula’s Pontifications. […]

My mother won’t let me live #4 down. She was so mad yet glad at the same time that day: mad that I put her in the situation, but glad I was safe. And the crazy thing is that the boy I visited is the half-brother of my half-sisters!! Small town; small world. 🙂
