In their controlling and delusional minds, sociopaths believe they have us eternally caged and contained.
And then we flutter away…
Namaste!

Yes, Paula, I believe when we “flutter away” we are exerting the ultimate force by removing ourselves from a sociopath’s sphere of influence. It totally messes up their game. They don’t ever see it coming and I believe it kind of stuns them. For some reason in their little minds they think we are forced to stick around and deal with them. Once we leave, they are forced to go find themselves a new unsuspecting victim, target or whatever role we filled. Brings to mind a song by Madonna years ago called the “Power of Goodbye”. I love the lyric: “There’s no greater power than the power of goodbye.” It’s the one weapon we have that they can’t really fight back against. Here are the lyrics:
Your heart is not open so I must go
The spell has been broken, I loved you so
Freedom comes when you learn to let go
Creation comes when you learn to say no
You were my lesson I had to learn
I was your fortress you had to burn
Pain is a warning that something’s wrong
I pray to God that it won’t be long
Do ya wanna go higher?
[Chorus:]
There’s nothing left to try
There’s no place left to hide
There’s no greater power
Than the power of good-bye
Your heart is not open so I must go
The spell has been broken, I loved you so
You were my lesson I had to learn
I was your fortress
[Chorus2:]
There’s nothing left to lose
There’s no more heart to bruise
There’s no greater power
Than the power of good-bye
Learn to say good-bye
I yearn to say good-bye

Great song! I listened to that album, Ray of Light, a lot in the beginning days of recovery. I need to revisit it. Thank you for sharing!!
